Let the pod swell
and the ground sog.
Let the season be old.
Blink and you'll miss it, we
humans say of our small
towns, our crossroads,
our intersections.
Then we blink furiously.
Blink up a storm. Our
eyelashes form a cough
in the wind, our eyelids
swell like pods. Rain, keep
yours open. Lower to us
where we meet, well
up like a footprint.
